I’m Karen Siefken, Executive Director at United Way of the Great River Region. I graduated from Iowa State University with a BA degree in Leisure Studies (Recreation). I have worked in the non-profit world for over 30 years. I started in a part-time position in college and continued to move up the ranks. While working within the YMCA system, I successfully completed YMCA of the USA’s Executive Director development program. This program prepared me well for my job with UWGRR.
My husband, Tracy, and I live in Wever. I have a 19 year-old daughter and a 20 year-old step daughter. As a family we enjoy being outside, target shooting, cooking, and watching action movies. On any given weekend from April through October you can find me riding my horse or fishing and relaxing on the Mississippi River with my husband. Fun Fact about me, one of my favorite scents is fresh cut grass or hay.
